A Little Outing

The sun shone brightly today, yet the air was still crisp from the lingering winter.

Quincy and I decided to get out and about for a bit. We headed to the Castlewood Canyon State Park to which I had a daily pass, but alas, upon our arrival, the park had already closed for the day. I drove to the entrance on the north side of the park and we were able to drive through. We weren't able to stop and park.

We marveled at all the beauty we saw. I pointed out points of interest to Quincy. We drove to the end of the road and had to turn for another direction. We drove to the highway. As we drove, Quincy looked out the window and saw the shadow of our van out in the fields beside us. He giggled and pointed it out to me. So I showed him that we could also see shadows waving back at us if we waved to them! We giggled all the way to Franktown.

Happiness is .... waving at our shadows in the weeds with my three-year-old son.

Seeing GREEN!

His birthday is on Saint Patrick's Day. He will be four. He is practicing holding up four fingers on his little hands. He's made a wish list...and has even requested cupcakes on his special day.
I wanted to knit another sweater for him to wear on his special day.
Everything lined up for a special birthday sweater...why not make it GREEN! My skills and confidence were stronger during the knitting of this sweater and I really enjoyed it.
The best part is...this picture was the result of Quincy putting the sweater on and buttoning it up all by himself. Capturing the photo was the most difficult part of this post! How 'bout THAT?!?

I Heart PINK!

My sweetie sent me some sweets!!!!! Thanks Russell!
I finally opened the pouch of pink M&M's!

A Long Time Gone

It feels like forever since I've been here. Well...it HAS been forever. I was blogging many times per week and then down to nothing. I think my creative muse was suffering a slight blockage. There were things about which I was feeling extremely creative and managed to still create, but not at the same levels.

In the time that I have been gone, I found a winner of my quiltie for the One World, One Heart blogging event. Her name is Diana. I need to sift through all the e-mails and get her contact information and get this out to her. Now that the event is over, it will be a lot of fun to visit all the blogs that were registered.

Every so often, I have this need to touch fabrics (and or yarns). I managed to squeeze in a tiny little jaunt to the quilting store in Castle Rock yesterday. The fabrics in the accompanying photo are the haul: ten fat quarters and 5 fat eighths. I don't really have a plan for them yet, but soon....very soon they will be come a part of something wonderful. I'm not sure yet just what. :)

In the past couple of weeks, I also benefitted from a few sessions of retail therapy. I picked up a new sewing book in which there are directions for a sweet scalloped edge table cloth. I saw some wonderfully cheerful birthday fabric at a Joann's fabric store and thought it might be fun to try to get one made for the upcoming march birthdays in our household. If I have time, I would like to create a new fabric birthday banner, too. We'll just have to see how much energy I REALLY have when the time comes. Gosh! The celebrations are quickly approaching. I guess I better get on it!

Crocheted Cuteness

I found this pattern in the February 2009 issue of Crochet World Magazine. I thought it was really adorable and wanted to make it for my fiance's littlest son, Ethan. I had Quincy model it for the pictures here....Ethan didn't care much to wear it...but for the 2 seconds it was on his head...it looked cute!

http://www.crochet-world.com/ It was a super-easy project. Quincy got a kick out of wearing it for all of about 45 seconds...which was his limit. Thankfully, I had the camera poised and ready to go!

Sunday Morning at The Hurricane Cafe

Coffee and breakfast with dear friends from far away. What a delight it was. I hope for more times like these....
