Mall Rats

Feeling a touch of cabin fever a couple of days ago, I decided to pack up Quincy and head out for a little bit. We ended up at my favorite mall. We shopped a little bit and then stopped to enjoy a little cuppa....of course Q picked out chocolate milk. He spied this little stuffed cat and asked me to take it's picture. So I did. I love the expression on Quincy's face as he observes the mini shoot unsuspecting that he is in the picture as well. He's gotten a little fickle about having pictures of himself lately. He sees the lens and ducks for cover! I was glad to sneak this one in!

I have a few things I have to do today. I plan to take my camera.

Turning The Page

I bought this extremely fragrant basket of pink hyacinths last week with the intent of photographing them in their prime. My head and my heart were in excruciating turmoil and I missed the blooms in their prime of beauty...or so I thought. Even though they are past the point at which most would observers say they are most beautiful, there is still something so beautiful about them. Their color has intensified. The edges are curling. The stems are drooping. Their fragrance is fading.

Studying the blooms this morning with my camera, I realized: It's almost a mirror of my romance that has recently ended. It has expired...and faded...and sadly....is withering away into dust.

I will miss you, Russell.

Good Times!

I think this is my favorite photo of Russell and me together.

Letting go of all I've held onto
I'm standing here until you make me move
I'm hanging by a moment here with you

Another March Birthday!

Quincy wanted cupcakes. So I made some pretty green frosting and we placed them in the cupcake tree. He was so thrilled with them. He helped me put the sprinkles on them.

Each year, for Quincy's Birthday, I get him a new stein for a collection I started on his first birthday. It seemed a fitting collection for a person who has a birthday on Saint Patrick's Day.

Quincy actually wanted white frosting, but I talked him into green. It almost seemed sacral!

Okay! Now...I know some folks might have an issue with this, but my little guy specifically asked for a doll. He was even clear on certain features. He wanted his doll's eyes to open and close and the eyes were to have lashes. How could I resist?

Quincy's Grampa Jim and Gramma Margie joined us in the celebration!

Happy Birthday, KaitieBug!

Gosh! Do we love a birthday celebration around here....
Kaitlyn turned 15 on Monday. She requested a zebra themed cake...a cheesecake. Well, this was what we came up with. I made her a special birthday dinner, too. Gramma Margie and Grampa Jim were here, too. We all had a great time.
