Rainy Days and Mondays...

Yesterday was a rainy day AND a Monday. Amanda was itching to get out and do something...anything! It was her suggestion that we go to the lake. I'd never seen this lake before and I was up for a little adventure.
I think, too often, we get in a rut and don't see the beauty in our everyday surroundings. We put on our blinders and drive to work as quickly as we can because we've pushed the snooze button a couple of times.
I wanted to put dinner into the crock pot before we left and as I was doing that, a thundrestorm rolled in...like clockwork. Amanda and I were determined to have this little adventure...and despite the rain, we loaded up the two little boys into the car and sped off.
Not two minutes into our journey, heavy rain began to fall. We forged ahead. We weren't about to let a few raindrops deter us! Besides, most of the time, the rain only falls for about ten minutes.
When we got the little lake, though, the rain still fell...heavily. We took shelter under the picnic pavillion and had a snack of cheese and crackers and washed it down with Capri Suns. The little boys finished their snacks and started to run around in the rain. They had sooooo much fun chasing each other!
We didn't have to go far to see something new and to have a little fun and make a few new memories. I urge you to get out there and explore your everyday surroundings, too! Take off the blinders and drive a little more slowly. You'll see something that catches your eye. Of this I am certain.

Into the Mist-ic

We are all eagerly anticipating the arrival of a big winter storm. This veil of fog must be the prelude. It sure made for some BEAUTIFUL scenic shots. I really enjoyed the cool, heavy mist. It felt good on my skin.
I feel so very blessed to live in such a beautiful place on the planet! I felt so happy to be alive this morning driving through the mist. I had to almost laugh out loud because I had the radio on for background noise. The morning DJ's were growling about the "crummy weather"..... I LOVE this kind of weather...maybe I would feel differently if we didn't also get a nice mix of sunshine, too. The heavy fog this morning was a super treat for ALL of my senses...yes! Even olfactory.

Mall Rats

Feeling a touch of cabin fever a couple of days ago, I decided to pack up Quincy and head out for a little bit. We ended up at my favorite mall. We shopped a little bit and then stopped to enjoy a little cuppa....of course Q picked out chocolate milk. He spied this little stuffed cat and asked me to take it's picture. So I did. I love the expression on Quincy's face as he observes the mini shoot unsuspecting that he is in the picture as well. He's gotten a little fickle about having pictures of himself lately. He sees the lens and ducks for cover! I was glad to sneak this one in!

I have a few things I have to do today. I plan to take my camera.

A Little Outing

The sun shone brightly today, yet the air was still crisp from the lingering winter.

Quincy and I decided to get out and about for a bit. We headed to the Castlewood Canyon State Park to which I had a daily pass, but alas, upon our arrival, the park had already closed for the day. I drove to the entrance on the north side of the park and we were able to drive through. We weren't able to stop and park.

We marveled at all the beauty we saw. I pointed out points of interest to Quincy. We drove to the end of the road and had to turn for another direction. We drove to the highway. As we drove, Quincy looked out the window and saw the shadow of our van out in the fields beside us. He giggled and pointed it out to me. So I showed him that we could also see shadows waving back at us if we waved to them! We giggled all the way to Franktown.

Happiness is .... waving at our shadows in the weeds with my three-year-old son.
