Great pix, as always!

What kind of lenses are you using?

I got the Canon Rebel XTi DSLR earlier this year and really like it. Have yet to get another lens beyond the one that came with the camera - an 18-55mm standard zoom.

I want to get another zoom lens - was thinking of 75-300mm, but have never been able to decide what to get. They are so pricey that I want to make sure I get the right thing. I want something that will take better jewelry shots but also want something that will be good for catching a bird in the field.

Any advice?

Hi, Patricia!

Thanks for stopping by my blog.

I use the Nikon D300 and most commonly, i shoot with th 16-85mm. I chose that lens because it was versatile for portrait work and wedding work. Which is what I was doing most of at the time I made my purchase. The lens you have now ought to be sufficient for jewelry images...or you might consider going to a macro lens. If I won the lottery tomorrow, that is what I would buy for myself...they can be pricey, too. I do have a separate 300mm fixed focal length lens specifically for my birding/animals shots. Bought it from a photoggin friend a lot of years ago at a price i couldn't pass up.
